Technology and society go hand in hand, where scientists create innovative gadgets for us and we as a consumer take advantage of those novelties. But, sometimes misconceptions get developed because of media errors, wrong advertisement and fake messages and as a result the common man can not run parallel to the latest innovations.
It is always better to perceive the fact behind various false beliefs to understand the things clearly. Here, in my article I tried to debunk some myths about cell phones.
Myth No. 1: Mobile Phones can cause gas station fires
A major myth about cell phone is concerned with the fire explosion in gas stations. But for sure, mobile phones cannot cause fires of any kind except an exploding battery on a rare case. However, static electricity (SE) surely can trigger an effect. It (SE) can be easily created when people get in and out of the car, without touching the body, which creates friction with the fabric and can cause a fire, if you touch the fuel nozzle.
As per the report cited by Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association and the American Petroleum Institute, a mobile phone can never blow things up and they’ve never seen any evidence to suggest the same.
Myth No. 2: Mobile phone has hidden battery power
Some people spread a rumor that if you dial a special code from any phone, you can get Automatic Recharge of your phone, but this is absolutely false, instead you have to recharge your phone battery once it gets discharged. The fact is that a few Nokia phones have a special code to provide 30% more battery talk time at the expense of lower sound quality.
Myth No. 3: Mobile phones can cause cancer
This is the biggest myth that you may have listened from hundreds of people that cell phone use leads to brain tumors. For sure, mobile phones do generate radiation and yes, the radiation levels are regulated. To the readers surprise, the truth is that 60% of the radiation emitted by a typical mobile phone is absorbed by the user's head and the radiation from a cell phone are not strong enough to strip away electrons or break down chemical bonds, at least according to most scientists.
As per report generated by the World Heath Organization and some other scientific reviews, cell phones do not pose a cancer hazard and the radiation from a cell phone are not strong enough to strip away electrons or break down chemical bonds.
Myth No. 4: Mobile phones can unlock/lock a car
No one really seems to know where this rumor came from, but surprisingly it’s been circulated in a number of emails. The idea behind the myth is that in case somebody forgets keys inside the car, he can call home to unlock the car with spare set of keys. The signal goes through the phone and you can continue your drive.
Myth No. 5: Mobile Phones Attract “Lightning”
This fact is still in discussion and still there is no such solid evidence for it and therefore you cannot say that lightning can’t attract Mobile phones. In general, it is advisable to stay safe in homes while Raining
So, the next time you hear a hullabaloo created over any of the superstitions above, you know what have to do.
